PHOTO ESSAYS: OUR POINT OF VIEW
In collaboration with the digital media staff at My Library, Luang Prabang, Laos, we have developed a curriculum that introduces visual story telling by challenging students to examine a subject or issue that impacts their families and communities. The artists are developing their artistic voice, learning to critique their own and their peers' work, and refining their work based on the constructive feedback they receive. Their photo essays reflect their values, their interests, and help us to see their world through their eyes.

Lee Hue: Hmong New Year
Hmong New Year in Luang Prabang, Laos 2013
"After harvesting and working hard during the old year, it's time to celebrate the new year by visiting with family and friends and finding new friends. Having friendship, love and fun is what I want in life." Yaxeng Ly: My Father"This is my father, he is 74 years old now. These photos are about his daily work. He usually works every day. I am very proud of him, because he is 74 years old but he is still very strong and works hard every day. I am very worried about him because he should stay home. When I see him work hard, I feel sorry, because I don't want him to work hard like this. But it inspires me to work hard and have better future."
Cha Ly: WaterCha Ly explored the complex relationship that many communities have with water. Here he looks at the challenges and benefits of water provided by NGOs, such as this well provided by World Vision for a Khmu village. Although the water is now cleaner, and in many ways more accessible, collecting and transporting water is still challenging work, often undertaken by children.
